Lagunitas Brewing Co. – Waldos Poster Series

Each year on 4/20, Lagunitas Brewing Co. releases The Waldos’ Special Ale—a dank, ultra-hoppy tribute to the original Waldos and the storied origins of 420, which took place just down the road from the brewery in San Rafael, CA. As part of the annual celebration, Lagunitas commissions a collectible poster that captures the essence of the Waldos’ treasure-hunting, cannabis-scented legacy.

I had the opportunity to illustrate the official Waldos posters for 2022 and 2023. Each design leaned into a different facet of the Waldos lore—otherworldly, psychedelic, irreverent—and blended dense storytelling with rich, hand-drawn detail. From skeletons with map fragments to lush forest landscapes and hidden Easter eggs, the posters invite viewers to get lost in the adventure, just like the Waldos did back in the ’70s.

These pieces were part of a larger national rollout that included print, retail displays, and digital promos—making them not just art, but key touchpoints in one of Lagunitas’ most anticipated seasonal campaigns.
